All schools publish the guidelines that they follow when offering places to children. Our Admissions Policy below explains how decisions about admissions will be made fairly.
The application process depends on how old your child will be on the birthday that falls within the school year. The school year, or academic year, runs from 1st September to 31st August.
Two Year Old Setting. If your child becomes two during the school year, you can apply for them to join our Two Year Old Setting. The criteria for eligibility are available on the Together for Children website and you can apply by contacting us [link to Contact Us] directly.
Nursery. If your child becomes three or four during the school year, you can apply for them to join our Nursery. Applications to the Nursery are made directly to the school and you can apply by contacting us.
Reception and Years 1-6. Your child is entitled to a full-time school place from the September following their fourth birthday and you can apply for them to join the academy in Reception. If your child becomes any age between 6 and 11 during the school year, you can apply for them to come into their year group within South Hylton Primary Academy. Places in Reception and years 1-6 have to be applied for online using the Common Application Form (available from the Local Authority). This can be accessed at www.sunderland.gov.uk/admissionsonline. Alternatively, please contact the school directly and we will be able to help you further.
We look forward to hearing from you and meeting you and your child.
